Biography
Having originated in East London, Adrian Legg took up the oboe in childhood before a pivotal change to guitar in his teenage years. From that point forward his standing grew as an uncommonly precise fingerstyle player whose sound draws from classical, jazz, folk, country, and rock sources. Although numerous self-produced studio albums have appeared under his name from the late 1970s onward—many of them finishing at the top of annual reader surveys conducted by Guitarist and Guitar Player—he has found particular success on stage, whether performing alone or sharing bills with figures that stretch from Nanci Griffith to Joe Satriani. Legg has further contributed a series of instructional videos and books while maintaining a steady role on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. His debut outing for Steve Vai’s Favored Nations Acoustic imprint, Guitar Bones, arrived in early 2003.
