Biography
Ash Borer, an American black metal ensemble distinguished by its sensitivity to droning and moribund atmospheric textures, originated in Arcata, California, in 2008. The outfit quickly gained notice in the underground black metal circuit alongside other West Coast acts including Weakling, Fell Voices, and Wolves in the Throne Room, issuing a rapid succession of demos and split 7" recordings. Their self-titled debut album appeared independently in 2011, prompting Profound Lore to sign the band without delay. Cold of Ages, the group’s second full-length and first release on that label, emerged in 2012. Their third album, Irrepassable Gate, followed in 2016, again through Profound Lore.
