Biography
Ashley Eriksson, a singer and songwriter, launched her musical journey early in life by participating in a children's choir featured on the 1993 Ren & Stimpy album Crock o' Christmas. In her junior high period, she took up songwriting and captured her compositions on a Tascam cassette four-track borrowed from her sibling. Transitioning later to a digital recorder allowed her to refine her skills further. Her 2005 effort, Singles & Covers, consisted of interpretations of tracks by other musicians that she particularly enjoyed, followed by the 2006 release Seasonal Music. Also in 2006, she co-formed the group LAKE alongside Eli Moore, Lindsay Schief, and Kenny Tarantino, taking on roles as songwriter and vocalist. Beginning with 2008's Tape issued via Funkytonk, the band put out four albums characterized by sweet and homey indie pop, shifting to the K label for Oh, the Places We'll Go that same year, Let's Build a Roof in 2009, and Giving & Receiving in 2011. Eriksson put forth her solo album Decarnarnation in 2010, and a solo rendition of "Christmas Island" drawn from Let's Build a Roof achieved modest recognition when employed as the closing credits theme for Adventure Time. The summer of 2013 saw the arrival of her initial solo outing on K, entitled Colours.
