Biography
Drawing from the high-octane eras across rock's established lineage as well as their own incendiary stage performances, the San Francisco outfit Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound first surfaced on the West Coast in the early 2000s as the core trio of Michael Lardas, Jefferson Marshall, and Charlie Saufley. By the arrival of their 2009 album When Sweet Sleep Returned the lineup had grown into a seven-piece ensemble that incorporated multi-instrumentalists Anderson Landbridge and Camilla Saufley alongside harmony vocalists Brett Constantino and Evan Reese of Sleepy Sun. Their first release for Tee Pee Records came in 2007 with Ekranoplan, engineered by Tim Green, whose production credits also include Earthless and Six Organs of Admittance. That modern psychedelic alliance between the now-expanded group—still featuring the Sleepy Sun duo on a provisional basis—and Green persisted through the follow-up When Sweet Sleep Returned, likewise issued on Tee Pee.
