Biography
Electronica and New Wave intersect in the duo Aswefall, built around French musician Clément Vaché alongside Sweden’s Leo Hellden of Véo Véo and Jay Jay Johansson. The pair’s 80s-revival orientation led naturally to guest appearances by Daniela D'Ambrosio of Nouvelle Vague and Departure Lounge’s Tim Keegan on the 2005 album Bleed. Notably, that record appeared well before the broader late-80s revival gained traction later in the decade, at least within France and in that specific style. Although the project itself never achieved widespread popularity, exposure increased substantially once the track “Between us” was licensed for a television commercial by a major French corporation. Radio support followed from Radio Nova, which gave regular airplay to another cut, “Game we play.”
