Austin Williams, a heartfelt balladeer who cleverly refreshes classic country traditions, first drew notice in 2023 through his adjusted power ballad “Wanna Be Saved.” The minor-key slow-burner evoked post-grunge while cloaking its introspective tone in synthesized beats and production touches, an approach that expanded his digital following. On his opening EP, sharing the title Wanna Be Saved, Williams underscored his earnest side, yet he soon displayed a playful bent by issuing “90s Rap Mashup,” a lighthearted medley that recast vintage hip-hop refrains in country form.

Born in Tennessee and raised in towns north of Nashville, Williams once aimed for a baseball career until a back injury at age fifteen forced a shift. While recovering from surgery he deepened his interest in country music and taught himself to sing and play guitar. Early social-media clips attracted a growing audience that increased further with the 2022 singles “Are You Really Gone” and “Forever in Your Eyes,” both issued while he was still in his late teens. He kept releasing tracks throughout 2023 and gained wider attention that September with “Wanna Be Saved,” which headed the mini-LP of the same name that arrived the same month. Williams then turned lighter with the follow-up “90s Rap Mashup” and closed the year with “Here We Go Again.”
