Biography
Adam Byczkowski, the Polish vocalist and songwriter, presents his cinematic and sadly dreamy solo work under the name Better Person. He merges '80s synth pop with sophisti-pop touches to shape isolated, bittersweet sonic worlds that reached their fullest expression on the 2020 album Something to Lose.
Born in the Polish city of Sopot, Byczkowski performed with assorted post-rock and indie bands before pursuing solo work in the mid-2010s. The first single issued as Better Person, "Sentiment," appeared in 2015 and was followed the next year by the EP It's Only You. Based mainly in Berlin yet traveling widely and maintaining a steady tour schedule, he met MGMT's Ben Goldwasser in the city, which led him to Los Angeles to record his debut full-length album Something to Lose with Goldwasser serving as producer. Arbutus, the Montreal label, released the album in October 2020.
