Biography
During the 1980s and early 1990s, Bill Whelan built a busy career as both a keyboardist and a sought-after producer whose clients included U2 and Patrick Street. He stepped into solo work in the mid-1990s by writing the score for Riverdance, the 1995 production that merged traditional Irish music with experimental elements. More than eighty dancers took part in the revue, which in 1995 toured the United States—including multiple sold-out engagements at Radio City Music Hall in New York—as well as Europe and Australia.
