Biography
Áine Minogue, an Irish vocalist, harpist, and producer whose work fuses Celtic, world, folk, spiritual, and new age elements into rich and varied musical textures, first stepped onto a stage at fourteen as part of the celebrated 114-piece orchestra maintained by Galway Mercy Convent. After serving with the Bunratty Castle Singers she moved to the United States, established herself in Boston, and formed the duo Legacy alongside Irish tenor Seán Ó'Sé. While she held a teaching position in Boston College’s Irish Studies Program, Minogue also appeared regularly alongside Johnny Cunningham, Séamus Connolly, and Séamus Egan, all three of whom contributed to her 1994 debut album Were You at the Rock. Two further releases arrived in 1996—Mysts of Time and To Warm Winter’s Night—followed the next year by Between Worlds. Circle of the Sun reached listeners in 1998, with Celtic Spirit appearing twelve months later. Later projects include The Twilight Realm, Celtic Meditation Music, Celtic Pilgrimage, Celtic Lamentations, Close Your Eyes, Love, and In the Name of Stillness, several of which climbed to the top of Billboard’s world, new age, and classical charts.
