Bluetile Lounge, from Perth, Australia, shapes a vast and ethereal aesthetic that recalls Galaxie 500 and Codeine while conjuring immense mental terrains. The ensemble assembled in 1991 and spent the next two years honing its material ahead of any stage appearances. Its first long-player, lowercase, appeared in 1995 on Summershine and reached American listeners via SubPop, while the next effort, Half-Cut, arrived in 1998 on Smells Like Records; together the records demonstrate exacting craft through luminous, layered sonics that retain clarity and focus.
