Biography
Born on 22 February 1938 in Columbia, Ohio, Hendricks first built his standing through stints with the Swallows and the Flyers. He entered the Drifters’ lineup in 1958 only to depart that same year in pursuit of individual work. Backed by the Coasters, the single “Itchy Twitchy Feeling” reached the US Top 30 on the pop charts, yet sustained visibility proved elusive. In 1960 he registered a modest entry on the lower reaches of the US pop listings with “Psycho.” Hendricks returned to the Drifters in 1964, after which his own trajectory became difficult to trace amid the frequent personnel shifts and unsettled history that marked the group.
