Biography
Born Kim Do Kyun in 1973, vocalist and composer Bobby Kim—who has written material for fellow Korean acts such as Drunken Tiger and Tasha—launched his career in 1993 as a member of the K-Reggae outfit Dr. Reggae. Those songwriting abilities soon connected him with additional musicians, leading him to unite with GanD and Juvie in 1999 to launch Buga Kingz. Mandatory military service postponed the release of the group’s first album until 2001, when Bugalicious reached stores; several years later the follow-up The Renaissance appeared. Although Kim had already stepped out on his own in 1998, it was his second album, Beats Within My Soul, issued in 2004, that established him as a star.
