Hailing from San Francisco, pop vocalist Bonnie Hayes channeled a new wave reinterpretation of 1960s girl-group pop—drawing from Blondie, the Go-Go's, and similar acts—into lively, energetic numbers defined by a bold, assured perspective. Working alongside her supporting group the Wild Combo, which comprised guitarist Paul Davis, bassist Hank Maninger, and drummer Kevin Hayes, she issued two albums: the exuberantly spirited Good Clean Fun in 1982 and Brave New Girl in 1984. She later secured a Chrysalis contract and assembled a bigger ensemble for the 1987 self-titled Bonnie Hayes before withdrawing from public attention for an extended stretch. A return came in 1995 with Empty Sky, which included input from longtime associates Paul Davis and Kevin Hayes, a guest spot by acquaintance Huey Lewis, and numerous other contributors.
