BOOM BOOM SATELLITES

Formed in Tokyo as an electronic-pop duo, Boom Boom Satellites united singer/guitarist Michiyuki Kawashima and bassist/DJ Masayuki Nakano, two university students who began working together in 1990. Their name came from a Sigue Sigue Sputnik song. Wide recognition arrived with the 1995 debut single "Dub Me Crazy," a standout cut on noted DJ Fumiya Tanaka's Abstract Set One compilation. After signing to the Belgian label R&S, the duo delivered "4 a Moment of Silence" in 1997 and followed it later that year with the EP Joyride. Festival stages soon included Glastonbury and Fuji Rock. Their first full-length album, Out Loud, surfaced in 1999. Releases the next year featured the single Fogbound, which appeared in the Ridge Racer 5 video game, while the pair also devoted time to tracking their second full-length.
