In 1996 Andrew Jervis and Dave "Skyjuice" Biegel united as the duo Bugs, proudly labeling themselves "bugs in the system." Jervis had previously worked as a DJ, while Biegel had supplied bass for various hip-hop, reggae and jazz ensembles. The pair’s Bug recordings mirror that breadth, merging jazz-funk, drum'n'bass and rare-groove under an overarching acid-jazz atmosphere. After signing with Ubiquity Records they launched their catalog in 1997 with the EP Both Feet in It and followed it with the full-length album Infinite Syndrome. Biegel simultaneously maintains two other Ubiquity-affiliated endeavors: the production venture Skyjuice and the breakbeat pop outfit Puracane.
