Biography
Germany-based Olaf Bender ranks among the three originators of the Raster-Noton imprint. Solo work appears under the names Byetone and Lumen, while collaborations with Komet and Carsten Nicolai (aka Alva Noto) constitute the laptop microsound trio Signal. Extremely limited recorded output includes only one contribution to the prize-winning 20 to 2000 series plus the 2003 album Feld, issued through the Raster-affiliated label Binemusic. Administrative and creative responsibilities for Raster-Noton occupy much of his time alongside frequent live performances.
