Cage

Cage emerged in San Diego in 1992, pieced together from the remnants of the local outfits Nomad and Crusher just as alternative rock reached its commercial peak. The group spent the balance of the decade largely overlooked, holding out for a resurgence of heavy metal. Its lineup consisted of vocalist Sean Peck, guitarists Eric Horton and Dave Garcia, bassist Mike Giordano, and drummer Mikey Niel. In 1998 the band’s Unveiled demo finally registered across Europe, securing Top Unsigned Band recognition from Germany’s Rock Hard magazine and earning the group an appearance at that year’s Dynamo Open Air Festival. Omega Records gave the recording an official release in 1999, paving the way for a contract with WWIII Records and the arrival of Astrology, the band’s sweeping power-metal concept album, in 2001.
