Camera, a three-piece Krautrock outfit based in Berlin, makes its sonic debts to earlier generations unmistakably clear. Michael Rother lent early support, taking the band on the road as his opening act during one of his tours as the onetime Neu! guitarist; he later organized a shared bill that also featured Dieter Moebius. Their habit of mounting impromptu shows throughout the city soon cemented their image as defiant outsiders channeling the same nonconformist energy that animated their forebears. Bureau B issued the debut album Radiate! in 2012, where it drew widespread critical praise, while the trio’s concerts simultaneously built their own reservoir of positive notice. An EP titled Système Solaire appeared shortly afterward. The full-length Remember I Was Carbon Dioxide arrived in 2014, Phantom of Liberty followed in 2016, and the disco-inflected Emotional Detox completed the sequence in 2018.
