Born in Brooklyn in 1909, Carl Sigman produced lyrics for songs that Frank Sinatra interpreted both in 1940 and again in 1995. The first substantial work to emerge from his pen was the 1940 piece "Love Lies," which Sinatra cut during his tenure with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Across the 1940s and 1950s he joined forces with assorted collaborators to create the enduring pop standards "Pennsylvania 6-5000," "Careless Hands," "Crazy He Calls Me," "Dream Along with Me," and "Answer Me, My Love." Sinatra continued to champion Sigman’s material through the 1950s and 1960s, adding "Ebb Tide," "I Could Have Told You," "The World We Knew," and "My Way of Life" to his repertoire. Co-written with Gilbert Becaud, "What Now My Love" appeared on Sinatra’s 1995 Duets album.
