Carlos Careqa stands out as an emerging talent pushing boundaries at the forefront of Brazilian pop. Rita Ribeiro and Vânia Abreu rank among the artists who have covered his material. While based in São Paulo he composed multiple scores for theater productions and cinema, and he maintained an active presence performing in local clubs. During the 1990s he also took his music to audiences in Genève and Berlin. His debut album Os Homens São Todos Iguais appeared in 1993, earning solid local radio play for the track "Acho," and the 1999 release Música Para Final de Século featured "Ser Igual É Legal" on the soundtrack of a prime-time soap opera.
