Biography
Reeve Carney, who works as both an actor and a musician, fronts the Los Angeles quartet Carney, whose sound fuses pop and rock with California psychedelia alongside Southern-styled stomp. Raised in New York City, Carney started out as a child actor while sharpening his abilities on piano and guitar. After moving to Southern California, he struck up a friendship with blues guitarist Jonny Lang, who soon invited him into his touring band. From 2005 through 2007, Carney traveled with Lang, handling backup guitar and often opening the shows himself. He also performed separate dates leading his own Reeve Carney & the Revolving Band before assembling Carney with bassist Aiden Moore, drummer Jon Epcar, and his brother Zane Carney on lead guitar.
The group’s first EP, Nothing Without You, appeared in May 2008, followed two years later by the full-length debut Mr. Green, Vol. 1. Around the same time, Carney took the lead role in the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, whose songs were written by U2’s Bono and the Edge.
