Cashis

Cashis grew up in Chicago yet chose to build his rap career by heading west to Orange County, relocating from the Windy City to Southern California in the company of his high school friend and producer Rikanatti. He issued a run of well-received mixtapes—one of them tracked while he remained free on bail ahead of a trial that ended in a jail sentence—and quickly became recognized as one of the area’s leading gutter-style MCs. Those efforts earned him a deal with Eminem’s Shady Records imprint at Interscope, after which he unveiled his debut single “Talkin’ All That.” The Rikanatti-produced mixtape Bogish Boy, mixed by DJ Arkane, reached listeners in September 2006 and was soon followed by Cashis’s appearance on the track “You Don’t Know” from Shady Records’ late-2006 release The Re-Up.
