Having long been a fixture in the gangsta rap world, WC kicked off his recording path in Low Profile and the Maad Circle, then co-founded Westside Connection alongside Ice Cube and Mack 10. The Shadiest One arrived as his first solo album in 1998 and cracked the pop Top 20 during its opening week on the charts. Moderate R&B traction followed with the singles "Better Days" and "Just Clownin'," and his next project, 2002's Ghetto Heisman, likewise registered on the pop side. Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and the Game all contributed to the 2007 set Guilty by Affiliation.
