The D.O.C.

A near-fatal car accident abruptly ended the rising trajectory of Texas-born rapper the D.O.C. soon after his debut album appeared. Although his own microphone skills never fully recovered, former producer Dr. Dre included him on the landmark album The Chronic, an effort that extended the sonic groundwork first established by the D.O.C.’s No One Can Do It Better. He also appeared on Snoop Doggy Dogg’s Doggystyle. Nearly seven years after his debut, the rapper resurfaced in early 1996 with the album Helter Skelter. Critics offered divided opinions, the project never reached a wide listenership, and it slipped from the charts within months of release.
