Biography
The West Coast rap group Da Lench Mob first drew notice through its politically charged debut album Guerillas in tha Mist. Shorty, J-Dee, and T Bone formed the trio, which made its initial appearance in 1990 on Ice Cube’s AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted. Ice Cube later acted as executive producer for the 1992 release of Guerillas in tha Mist. An explosive video for the title track, drawn from the film Predator, helped drive the album’s acceptance in hip-hop circles, where tracks such as “Freedom Got an A.K.” and “Lost in tha System” proved nearly as outspoken as Ice Cube’s own work. Although the follow-up Planet of da Apes appeared in 1994, Da Lench Mob broke up soon afterward.
