Biography
Catherine Anne Davies, who records as Catherine A.D., generated an outsized response from the moment she appeared. Forming alliances with Bernard Butler and Liam Howe while prompting parallels to revered English vocalists PJ Harvey and Kate Bush marked a striking achievement. Working as a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, chanteuse, and songwriter whose material fuses chamber pop with dark atmospheres, she first surfaced in the role of "emerging artist in residence" at an artists' collective. The subsequent release of her debut EP, Carry Your Heart, produced enough momentum to secure the production services of Butler and Howe. Work on shaping that material into a debut full-length album remained in progress as of 2009.
