Chillinit, an Australian rapper, unveiled his weed-themed hip-hop statement through the launch of his initial album in 2018 titled Weed Women & Wordplay. Hurstville, a suburb of Sydney, is where Chillinit, whose real name is Blake Turnell, grew up. His introduction to the scene came in 2016 via tracks he put out independently online. Although drawing from the grime movement in the U.K., he infused it with an Australian perspective, allowing him to emerge from underground circles upon issuing Weed Women & Wordplay in 2018. That album reached position 18 on Australia's main charts, causing his visibility to surge as he established himself among the nation's prominent grime MCs. Collaborations in 2019 included joining forces with Huskii on 4 Days, alongside the single "Ready for the Pain," which marked the initial output from his next album project. Early in 2020, he issued his follow-up album The Octagon via the 420 Fam label that he founded himself.
