Tom Gaynor, performing as millennial rapper Allday, first attracted notice via two radio successes that surfaced in his native Australia during 2014. Those cuts, "Right Now" and "You Always Know the DJ," landed on debut album Startup Cult after he had already issued multiple mixtapes, left art school and a punk band behind, and served as an opener for Lily Allen. Genuine, bittersweet narratives intertwined with youthful antics across verses whose cadence recalled '90s American East Coast rap. His hazy Soft Grunge Love Rap mixtape surfaced in 2015 at the same time he joined Wind-Up Records. Eagerly awaited follow-up Speeding appeared in 2017 and included contributions from fellow Aussies Japanese Wallpaper, Mallrat, and Nyne.
