Twin siblings Cosmo and Patrick Liney shape the bright keyboard timbres, idiosyncratic beats, and feel-good spirit that define Cosmo's Midnight. Partnering with artists across pop, indie electronica, rap, and EDM, the pair launched their major-label career via the 2015 EP Moments, then expanded their playful aesthetic with jazz accents and funky disco grooves on the 2018 full-length What Comes Next. They sustained this buoyant approach across subsequent releases, enlisting a wide range of guests for 2020’s Yesteryear and 2024’s Stop Thinking Start Feeling.

Raised in Sydney, Australia, the Liney brothers secured their first management agreement after triumphing in a 2012 Future Classic remix contest with their airy reinterpretation of Flume’s “Sleepless.” The 2013 EP Surge appeared on Yes Please, fronted by the duo’s inaugural single “Phantasm” featuring vocalist Nicole Millar; “Moshi,” a collaboration with Polographia, followed that December and preceded their signing to Sony Music Australia. Moments, their second EP from 2015, showcased joint efforts with Wave Racer, Kučka, and Lido. Early 2017 brought Cosmo’s Midnight’s debut North American tour, highlighted by sold-out performances at The Roxy in Los Angeles and Rough Trade in New York, after which they routed through Australia and various Asian cities.

Sony issued the group’s first album, What Comes Next, in 2018. Guests included pop singer Tove Styrke, rappers Buddy and Jay Prince, and Australian electronic duo Panama, helping the set reach the Australian Top 40. October 2020’s Yesteryear featured Matthew Young, Age.Sex.Location, and Stevan; it attained a peak of number 42 at home, while the title track climbed to number 40 in New Zealand. The Yesteryear Remix Album surfaced the next July.

Throughout 2021 the project concentrated on standalone singles, teaming with Jitwam, Baynk, and Yung Bae. They reentered New Zealand’s Top 40 in 2022 via the independent track “Can't Do Without My Baby,” the initial preview of their third album. Following six advance singles, Stop Thinking Start Feeling emerged on Sony in May 2024, with contributions from bedroom-pop artist Spill Tab and genre-fluid R&B performers Forest Claudette, Kyle Dion, and Shungudzo.
