Basenji

Hailing from Australia, Sebastian Muecke performs under the name Basenji as a sought-after electronic musician, DJ, and producer recognized for crafting buoyant tracks with a pop focus. Born in Sydney, he first began creating music alongside fellow local producer Tom Purcell, known as Wave Racer, in a duo project. He later struck out independently by uploading material to Soundcloud and entering Triple J radio’s Unearthed contest, where the track “Heirloom” drew notable attention. That exposure on Triple J led Future Classic to sign him in 2014. The following year he issued his first EP, Trackpad, which included the singles “Petals” and “Just Can't Get Enough.” A string of prominent performances came next, among them a U.S. tour presented by Future Classic. He returned in 2017 with the single “Mistakes” that featured Tkay Maidza, then in 2019 unveiled the Mallrat collaboration “Nobody’s Home” as well as the solo cut “Perfect Blue.”
