Galimatias

Danish producer Galimatias, born Matias Saabye Peschcke-Køedt, supplied beats to multiple homegrown hip-hop acts, yet achieved broader international notice for his own atmospheric, oneiric output and his partnerships with American singer/songwriter Alina Baraz. Music-making began for him in his teenage years, yielding productions for Danish hip-hop acts such as Fokus Clique, Klaes, and M.I.L.O near the start of the 2010s. Two EPs of restrained, downtempo instrumentals—Luna Soul and Sunlight Reigns Supreme—appeared in 2012. Work with Baraz started the following year, promptly attracting online coverage. The resulting material was compiled on the eight-song EP Urban Flora, issued digitally by Ultra Records in 2015 and on vinyl by Mom + Pop in 2016. Felix Jaehn’s remix of their track “Fantasy” turned up on numerous dance compilations. Galimatias’ affection for hip-hop and R&B shaped his first 2017 single, “Let Me Know,” which placed beatboxing and vocoders beneath his own silky vocals.
