Snakehips craft left-field pop, hip-hop, and dance tracks that pull in an array of guest vocalists and circle around hedonism and heartache. After surfacing through remixes and then issuing their own sunlit originals, the duo broke through in 2015 with the platinum-certified single "All My Friends," featuring Chance the Rapper and Tinashe; the track earned an Ivor Novello Award. Subsequent releases broadened their reach by spotlighting collaborators including Zayn, MØ, and Anderson .Paak. In the early 2020s the pair shifted toward house textures on cuts such as the 2021 Armand Van Helden collaboration "Freedom (You Bring Me)" and the 2022 EP Couple Bandz, before delivering their guest-laden debut album, never worry, in 2023.

U.K. producers Oliver Lee and James Carter built steady recognition between 2012 and 2014 through remixes for Willie Hale ("Groove On"), Wild Belle ("It's Too Late"), Bondax ("Gold"), Banks ("Warm Water"), and the Weeknd ("Wanderlust"), while also dropping a pair of their own luminous singles. Their first official Snakehips release, the 2013 track "On & On" with Australian singer/songwriter George Maple, came out on Hoffman West as a 12" pressed in a limited run of 250 copies alongside a digital version. The more upbeat follow-up, 2014's "Days with You," showcased Sinead Harnett, known for her work on Disclosure's "Boiling" and Rudimental's "Hide" and "Baby." An EP titled Forever, Pt. 2 surfaced in March 2015, after which the yearning pop single "All My Friends" featuring Chance the Rapper and Tinashe became a global success, reaching the Top Five on the singles charts in Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K. Their All My Friends EP arrived in April 2016 and contained the single "Money on Me" with Anderson .Paak; the following month "All My Friends" received the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song.

The duo teamed with Zayn for the 2016 single "Cruel," which charted in the Top 40 across multiple territories including Australia and the U.K. Early 2017 brought "Don't Leave," a worldwide hit with MØ, followed by "Right Now" alongside Elhae, DRAM, and H.E.R. and "Either Way" with Anne-Marie and Joey Bada$$. In 2018 Snakehips linked with St Rulez on "Cruzin'," included on the EP Stay Home Tapes that also featured Jeremih and Amine. They opened 2019 with "Gucci Rock n Rolla" featuring Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and R&B singer KYLE, then released "Summer Fade" with Anna of the North and appeared on Bea Miller's "Never Gonna Like You." "Wavez" with TroyBoi arrived in 2020, succeeded by "Lie for You" featuring Jess Glynne.

EARTHGANG appeared on the 2021 hip-house single "Run It Up," after which the pair joined house veteran Armand Van Helden for "Freedom (You Bring Me)." Further future-house explorations followed with tracks such as "All Over U," while "Tonight" with Tchami preceded the Couple Bandz EP that included Promnite and Tony Romera. "WATER" featuring Bryce Vine and "All Around the World" with Duckwrth emerged next, leading to the 2023 debut album never worry, which showcased guests including Tinashe, Rochelle Jordan, and Tkay Maidza.
