Australia's electronic production duo Flight Facilities, consisting of Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell, first emerged after forming in Sydney during 2009. Their initial recognition arrived via the 2010 single "Crave You" featuring Giselle Rosselli, followed by the J Award-winning "Foreign Language" with Jess Higgs in 2011. Further exposure came in 2013 through performances at SXSW in Austin and Australia's Falls Festival, paving the way for their 2014 Coachella appearance in Palm Springs and the release of debut album Down to Earth, which peaked at number three on the ARIA Albums chart and later achieved gold status. In December 2015 they issued Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, capturing an ambitious symphonic concert from earlier that year.

The pair sustained momentum with 2017 singles "Arty Boy" featuring Emma Louise and "Stranded" alongside Broods, Reggie Watts, and Saro, then added 2018's "Need You" with Nika and "All Your Love" featuring Dustin Tebbutt. Their 2010 breakthrough track "Crave You" had already established them, while subsequent releases included 2019's "Better Than Ever" with Aloe Blacc, which entered Australia's Top 100. The 2021 collaboration "Lights Up" with Channel Tres appeared on second album Forever, also featuring Your Smith and Drama; the record reached number six on the ARIA Albums chart, earned the AIR Award for Best Independent Dance or Electronica Album or EP, and returned the duo to the ARIA Top Ten. That same year brought the companion Lost Forever EP, following earlier non-album cuts such as 2014's Down to Earth and the 2017–2018 singles. In 2024 they issued multiple standalone collaborations with Owl Eyes, among them "Trouble" and "Day of the Weeks."
