Aeroplane emerged from Belgium as an electronica project steeped in cosmic disco, issuing its first full-length album, We Can't Fly, during 2010. The project took shape in Brussels two years earlier when Stephen Fasano and Vito Deluca formed a duo; Deluca, born in Belgium to Italian parents, joined forces with Fasano under the Aeroplane name. Drawing from Giorgio Moroder’s output in both disco and film scores, the pair launched their recorded output on Eskimo Records with the single “Aeroplane” in 2007, then issued the follow-up “Pacific Air Race” before year’s end. Eskimo Records released the third Aeroplane single, “Whispers,” in 2008, while Fasano and Deluca simultaneously built a reputation through remixes, among them Sebastien Tellier’s “Kilometer,” Au Revoir Simone’s “Another Likely Story,” and Robbie Williams’ “Bodies.” Eventually Fasano departed to concentrate on his own DJ career, leaving Deluca to continue Aeroplane alone. In that reduced format the project delivered We Can't Fly, an album issued through Wall of Sound that yielded the singles “We Can't Fly” and “Superstar.”
