Breakbot

Breakbot emerged as the joint effort of French producer Thibaut Berland and vocalist Irfane, fusing funk, disco, house, French touch, and additional styles into a sleek, refined sound. Recognition first came to Berland in 2006 after his remix of Justice's "Let There Be Light" appeared on the Japan-only Waters of Nazareth EP. He followed that in 2007 with the Happy Rabbit EP, issued on the Klee label as Breakbot's initial outing, and simultaneously built demand as a remixer for Digitalism, Sébastien Tellier, Röyksopp, and further artists. The 2010 Ed Banger single Baby I'm Yours introduced the project on that roster, featuring Irfane's vocals and reworkings by Siriusmo and La Funk Mob. Fantasy surfaced in 2011 and One Out of Two arrived the next year, both carrying guest vocals from Ruckazoid and leading directly to the 2012 debut album By Your Side, which reached U.S. listeners in April 2013. Subsequent years involved extensive touring alongside remixes for Birdy Nam Nam, Phoenix, and Busy P, with new material developed during those travels. Berland and Irfane, now a permanent member, worked inside the studio owned by Berland's brother David in 2015. Inspired by Curtis Mayfield, Michael Jackson, and Prince, they delivered "Get Lost" as the first release in three years, with the full-length Still Waters following in early 2016.
