Hailing from Paris, Quentin Lepoutre performs and produces under the name Myd, creating upbeat, sunlit dance music that draws on electro, R&B, African rhythms, trap, and indie rock. Working independently and as a member of the Club Cheval collective since the late 2000s, he has issued singles and EPs through Brodinski’s Bromance Records and the influential French dance imprint Ed Banger. He has also crafted tracks for French rappers SCH and Lacrim, reworked material by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Groove Armada, and Major Lazer, and joined Mac DeMarco for the 2020 single “Moving Men.”

Originally from Lille, Lepoutre began studying sound engineering at the Parisian film school La Fémis in 2008. With fellow students Panteros666, Canblaster, and Sam Tiba he formed Club Cheval, and the group started releasing music in 2009, among them several remixes of Myd’s track “Train to Bamako.” Myd himself reworked songs by Yelle, Two Door Cinema Club, and Yolanda Be Cool & DCup (“We No Speak Americano”), while Club Cheval placed its first EP on the Finnish label Top Billin Music in 2010. After signing to the Marble label run by Para One, Surkin, and Bobmo, Myd issued the Octodip EP in 2011, which featured a more fragmented vocal approach than his prior work. Freak Andy followed in 2013, and alongside Algerian-French producer Kore he co-wrote every song on Brodinski’s 2015 album Brava as well as further hits for French rappers SCH, Lacrim, and Alonzo.

Myd’s own Bromance EP Número Uno appeared in 2015, and Club Cheval’s debut album Discipline came out on Parlophone the following year. Late in 2016 he released the hip-hop single “No Bullshit” featuring Twice and Lil Patt. When Bromance closed in 2017, Myd moved to Ed Banger and debuted on the label with the EP All Inclusive. He also scored the French drama Bloody Milk and earned a nomination for Best Original Music at the 43rd César Awards. In 2018 he teamed with Californian disco/funk artist Cola Boyy for the single “Muchas” and produced several tracks on French rapper Georgio’s album XX5. The Superdiscoteca EP arrived in 2019, followed in 2020 by the singles “Together We Stand” and the unexpected Mac DeMarco collaboration “Moving Men.”
