Sydney, Australia-based electronic outfit Rüfüs Du Sol crafts atmospheric house laced with pop instincts, a sound that propelled the act to festival-headlining prominence and multiple awards. Atlas, their 2013 debut, reached the summit of the Australian album charts and earned gold certification, a feat matched two years later by Bloom. Solace followed in 2018, landing at number two on the ARIA tally, before Surrender—their fourth studio set—topped the same chart upon its 2021 release and yielded the Grammy-winning single “Alive.” Inhale/Exhale arrived in October 2024 and entered the Top Five on both the Australian albums chart and Billboard’s Dance Albums survey.

The trio coalesced in 2010 after an impromptu jam during a rain-soaked Byron Bay getaway. Guitarist Tyrone Lindqvist, keyboardist Jon George, and drummer James Hunt initially operated under the name RÜFÜS at home, issuing the EPs RÜFÜS in 2011 and Blue the following year. Their first full-length, Atlas, surfaced on Sony in 2013, topped the domestic chart, and was succeeded by the Desert Night EP. Growing international visibility prompted a U.S. name adjustment to Rüfüs Du Sol, a distinction retained until the two designations merged in 2018.

Bloom, released in 2016, featured the singles “You Were Right,” “Like an Animal,” and “Innerbloom,” again topped the ARIA chart, and later received gold status. A string of 2018 singles preceded Solace, which peaked at number two in Australia and appeared in remixed form the next year. October 2021 brought Surrender, whose ARIA-charting singles included “Alive”—recipient of a 2022 Grammy—and “Next to Me,” plus a Curtis Harding guest spot on the title track. Promotion encompassed a sold-out Banc of California Stadium date in Los Angeles alongside headline shows at the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks, and the Gorge Amphitheater.

A 2023 Like a Version cover of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way” unexpectedly went viral, paving the way for the 2024 single “Music Is Better.” The ensuing album, Inhale/Exhale, was tracked during two-week sessions convened in Ibiza, Austin, and Los Angeles; issued in October 2024, it spotlighted the group’s euphoric fusion of pop and electronic dance conventions while reaching the Top Five on the Australian albums chart and Billboard’s dance listing.
