The Blaze craft atmospheric EDM that balances an eerie tone with uplifting elements, their tracks unfolding along an emotional trajectory mirrored in the accompanying visuals. The Paris-based duo first drew widespread attention when their inaugural video single, "Virile," spread rapidly online in 2016. Their debut full-length, DANCEHALL, appeared in 2018, after which they played major international festivals before issuing further audio-video releases such as the 2022 track "DREAMER."

Cousins Guillaume and Jonathan Alric formed the project in the French capital. It originated while Jonathan attended film school in Brussels and enlisted Guillaume—already producing electronic music as Mayd Hubb—to compose a score for one of his student videos. The pair’s first single, "Virile," surfaced in early 2016 on the Bromance Records compilation Homieland, Vol. 2. Its video, built around unearthly pitched-down vocals, had surpassed a million views by the time their initial EP, Territory, arrived on Animal 63 in the first half of 2017. A year later they issued the single and video "Heaven" in early 2018; the song was included on DANCEHALL, released that September, again via Animal 63. In the same period the duo appeared at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork Paris, and Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Their first post-album release, the January 2020 single "Somewhere" featuring French-born U.K. rapper Octavian, was followed by a pandemic-induced break. The Blaze resurfaced in 2022 with the singles and videos "EYES" and "DREAMER."
