Australia's electronic production duo Peking Duk first emerged from Canberra after forming in 2010. DJs and producers Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles came together after Hyde's earlier bass work in several bands and Styles's prior involvement in hip-hop projects. Their initial releases arrived in 2011 with the singles "Bingo Trippin" and "Welcome" featuring Stef K. A 2012 bootleg remix of Passion Pit's "Take a Walk" drew wider notice and lifted their visibility, paving the way for further well-received tracks such as "High" featuring Nicole Millar and "Take Me Over" featuring SAFIA, both of which reached the Top Ten on Australia's dance charts. "High" also earned the pair an ARIA Award for Best Dance Release.

By the mid-2010s Peking Duk had broken into the mainstream with their dance-oriented, rock- and pop-inflected sound and irreverent party ethos. Their 2015 Coachella debut coincided with the Songs to Sweat To EP, whose single "Say My Name" became another platinum-certified Australian favorite. The following year brought a quadruple-platinum collaboration with Swedish singer Elliphant on "Stranger," which received two rounds of remixes in 2017. Subsequent singles paired them with European dance-pop acts, including "Fake Magic" featuring AlunaGeorge and "Let You Down" featuring Icona Pop, both of which held positions inside the Top 40. Their sophomore EP Reprisal, released in 2018, quickly achieved triple-platinum status. Into the 2020s they maintained momentum through singles such as the Jack River collaboration "Sugar" and "Nothing to Love About Love" with the Wombats.
