Biography
Beginning in the mid-2010s, Amsterdam-based producer and DJ Sam Feldt attracted notice across Europe and beyond through his melodic house remixes, mixtapes, and joint projects. His first major breakthrough arrived in 2015 with a cover of Robin S.’s “Show Me Love,” which gained widespread chart traction throughout the continent. Subsequent years brought further successes, among them the 2019 single “Post Malone” from the Magnets EP, followed by 2021’s “Follow Me” alongside Rita Ora, 2022’s “Hate Me” with Salem Ilese, and the 2023 Jonas Blue collaboration “Crying on the Dancefloor” featuring Violet Days.
Feldt’s initial output encompassed the 2014 tracks “Bloesem” with De Hofnar and “Hot Skin” with Kav Verhouzer, both issued on the Dutch imprint Spinnin’ Records. After steadily expanding his European live appearances to spotlight his own material, he made his North American touring debut in early 2015. “Midnight Hearts,” a collaboration with the Him featuring ANG13, appeared shortly thereafter, and that spring he entered a worldwide deal with Universal Music for the release of “Show Me Love” featuring English vocalist Kimberly Anne. The single registered across Western European charts, reaching the U.K. Top Five while also appearing on U.S. dance and streaming tallies. By the close of 2015, Feldt had performed across five continents.
Summer 2016 brought a domestic success in the Netherlands with “Summer on You,” a joint effort involving Lucas & Steve and Wulf. Later that year he delivered his debut EP, Been a While, which included contributions from Dante Klein, Milow, Lulleaux, and Bright Sparks. Late 2016 also saw the release of “Runaways” with Deepend featuring Teemu; the track charted in Europe and later prompted a dedicated remix EP. In 2017 Feldt unveiled his first full-length album, Sunrise, whose singles included “Yes” with Akon, “Fade Away” with Lush & Simon and Inna, and “Be My Lover” with Alex Schulz. A companion remix collection, After the Sunset, surfaced in 2018 alongside the single “Heaven (Don’t Have a Name),” which featured vocals from actor Jeremy Renner.
In spring 2019 Feldt issued the singles “One Day” featuring ROZES and “Magnets” featuring Sophie Simmons. The EP Magnets followed in May and contained the track “Post Malone” with singer Rani, which reached number four on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. May 2020 marked the launch of his own Heartfeldt Records with “Hold Me Close” featuring Ella Henderson; a second release on the label, “Far Away from Home” with Vize and Leony, arrived the following month. November 2020 brought his third EP, Home Sweet Home, populated with appearances by Alma, Digital Farm Animals, Karma Child, and additional guests. In 2021 he teamed with Kesha for the standalone track “Stronger,” while other releases that year encompassed “Pick Me Up” with Sam Fischer, “Call on Me” featuring Georgia Ku, and the charting Dutch hit “Follow Me” with Rita Ora. Further collaborations arrived via 2022’s “Hate Me” with Salem Ilese and “Late Night Feels” featuring Monsta X, along with 2023’s “Enough to Drink” with Cate Downey and “Crying on the Dancefloor” with Jonas Blue featuring Violet Days.
