Breathe Carolina, the versatile Colorado ensemble, surfaced toward the close of the 2000s by merging EDM, post-hardcore, and electropop into a single hybrid style, achieving initial recognition via the 2011 track "Blackout" that anchored their third album, Hell Is What You Make It.

Kyle Even and David Schmitt established the Denver outfit in 2006, and their fusion of synth-driven rhythms with melodic screaming first reached listeners through the independently issued Gossip EP in 2007. Rise Records released the band’s debut full-length, It’s Classy, Not Classic, the following year; the set contained every selection from Gossip together with six newly recorded songs. Hello Fascination arrived in 2009 and climbed to number 43 on the Billboard 200. Two years later the group delivered its third album, Hell Is What You Make It, which housed the breakout single "Blackout."

Founding member Kyle Even exited in 2013 to devote himself to parenting, yet Breathe Carolina carried on and issued a fourth album, Savages, in 2014. The project enlisted Karmin, Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and Tyler Carter of Issues while spotlighting the singles "Collide," "Bang It Out," "Sellouts," and "Savages." In 2015 the band unveiled the single "More Than Ever," a collaboration with Ryos that featured vocalist KARRA and appeared on the Dutch independent label Spinnin’ Records.

Throughout the next twelve months Breathe Carolina maintained an intense pace, issuing multiple prominent singles along with the EPs Sleepless and Oh So Hard while working alongside Blasterjaxx, APEK, Haliene, and additional artists. The Spinnin’ label released another EP, Coma, in 2017, followed the next year by the sequel Oh So Hard, Pt. 2. In 2019 the group teamed with Raven & Kreyn for "Stronger" and with Jordan Jay for "All I Need."
