Biography
French DJ and producer Laurent Arriau originated the deep house outfit Watermät. Raised in Paris after his birth in the early '80s, he cultivated an early passion for music through guitar and piano lessons while absorbing a wide range of sounds stretching from Michael Jackson to Guns N' Roses. Daft Punk ignited his interest in house, prompting him to master DJ techniques and electronic production methods. He devoted two years to scientific studies before shifting focus to behind-the-scenes production for several prominent French pop acts. Favoring a low profile at first, he stayed out of the spotlight until he chose to craft original material, prompting his departure from Paris in 2012 for a new base in the south of France.
After posting his initial tracks on Soundcloud, where they attracted attention and built a sizable audience, broader recognition arrived once Spinnin' Records selected his cut "Bullit" for official single release. Crafted and laid down over just a couple of days, the catchy number merged a bright, summery flute line with dark, towering bass hits. Issued in June 2014, it received plays from leading global DJs such as Pete Tong and Tiësto, quickly turning into a defining summer anthem. The release entered charts across multiple European territories, achieving its strongest showing on Belgium's Flemish Ultratop chart at number six.
