Norwegian electronic musician Peder Losnegård records under the Lido alias and has penned and produced material for Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, and Halsey, among numerous additional artists. His own output drapes lovesick lyrics across intricate electronic frameworks shaped by trap, EDM, and funk influences. Early on he performed rap as LidoLido and secured two Top Ten-charting albums in Norway; he later pivoted toward a more electronic direction as Lido, issuing his third LP, Everything, in 2016. After several EPs and singles, Losnegård broadened the Lido palette on the eclectic R&B-infused 2020 album Peder and then proceeded independently for the ethereal Ultraviolet, which appeared in 2023.

Born to a gospel choir director, Losnegård displayed musical aptitude from childhood onward, studying drums and piano while composing at an early age. At 16 he had already begun building momentum as a rap artist; after issuing the self-released 2008 Good Guy Mixtape he secured a deal with Universal Music Norway under the LidoLido moniker. He subsequently delivered two commercially successful LPs for the label—2012’s Pretty Girls & Grey Sweaters and 2013’s Battle Poetry—while gaining recognition equally for his production skills and beatmaking as for his rapping.

In 2014 he shortened his performing name to Lido and redirected attention toward remixing and production work, releasing the I Love You EP and producing or co-writing tracks for artists including Ariana Grande and Alison Wonderland. Over the ensuing year he expanded his international profile through a collaboration with DJ and producer Canblaster on the Superspeed EP and with R&B singer Santell on The Passion Project EP. Alongside a sold-out U.S. tour, Lido produced a track for Chance the Rapper and served as executive producer for Halsey’s 2015 debut album, Badlands. Early in 2016 he shared an eight-minute remix of Kanye West’s album The Life of Pablo, retitled The Life of Peder, which accumulated one million streams within its first 24 hours. Everything, his debut solo album under the Lido name, surfaced later that same year, followed by a remixed edition titled Everything Remixed the next year; 2017 also brought the single “Not Enough,” featuring indie R&B duo They.

Losnegård stayed active behind the scenes, working with Jaden Smith, Ella Mai, and Mariah Carey. Throughout 2018 he issued three EPs: Spacesuit, recorded with rapper J’von and featuring guests Mayer Hawthorne and Towkio, arrived in May; I O U 1 followed in September; and I O U 2 appeared in November. Preparing his subsequent album as Lido, Losnegård began issuing singles such as “How to Do Nothing” and “Postclubridehomemusic,” mapping out an expansive sonic range. He titled the project Peder after his given name and constructed a loose narrative centered on a space traveler encountering music via a pirate radio station. After the album’s 2020 release, Lido maintained a low profile until briefly resurfacing with the eerie Jim Alxndr collaboration “Live in Pretend” in 2022. When fresh material under his own name finally emerged, it arrived as an independent release, his prior output having appeared on major-label imprint Universal Norway. Ultraviolet, the September 2023 full-length, unfolded as a mysterious, soulful affair rich with layered sonic details and experimental production.
