New Zealand electronic producer Baynk crafts tropical house and future bass material that fuses live instrumentation with atmospheric synths. Following his 2015 breakthrough via online circulation, he delivered the EPs Someone's EP I and Someone's EP II within four years.

Jock Nowell-Usticke, born in New Zealand in 1996, began piano instruction at age five. By roughly twelve he had moved to saxophone while maintaining guitar playing through his high-school years. During his later studies in chemical engineering, he joined a cover band and grew curious about capturing original work. After acquiring music-production software, he mastered its operation on his own, generating tracks that combined live instruments—saxophone included—with electronic beats and synth textures. Several of these pieces appeared online in 2015, among them the song “Sundae,” which quickly circulated and drew wider attention to his catalog.

Promoter Mark Kneebone noticed the rising profile and secured Baynk a slot at St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. The performance proved successful, leading to ongoing live dates and touring. Additional tracks surfaced, among them “About Me” and “Could You” in 2016. Someone’s EP I appeared the following year. Someone’s EP II arrived in 2019, featuring the cuts “Settle” with singer Sinead Harnett and “Go with You.” Baynk’s third EP, A Study in Movement, surfaced in 2020 and showcased contributions from Tei Shi and Mood Talk.
