Klangstof

Klangstof, the Amsterdam-based outfit delivering dreamy alt-indie sounds, stems from the efforts of Norwegian singer/songwriter and producer Koen van de Wardt. Radiohead's OK Computer served as his initial muse, aiding in the refinement of his instrumental prowess. Pursuing his own compositions led him to enhance his songwriting craft through enrollment at Norway's Hedmark University College. His background includes a period playing bass for the Dutch indie outfit Moss before fully dedicating to Klangstof in 2014. The 2016 release of the single "Hostage" paved the way for his signing to Mind of a Genius, the label also home to Zhu and Gallant. This expansive track blended the chilly sonic environments characteristic of Radiohead's later output with the haunting textures of Sigur Rós and the groovy accents of Alt-J. Also in 2016 came the album Close Eyes to Exit, which included "Hostages" alongside the title cut. From this emerged the 2017 remix package Klangstoff Remixes: Dusk.
