Biography
Australia's Vancouver Sleep Clinic operates as the solo outlet for ambient electronic singer/songwriter Tim Bettinson. Early notice arrived via the 2013 track "Vapour," which preceded his first full-length effort, Revival, released in 2016. Born that same year, Bettinson spent his Brisbane childhood absorbing his father's Fleetwood Mac and Eagles LPs, then encountered Bon Iver and Sigur Rós during adolescence. Those discoveries prompted him to compose original material using only a keyboard and computer. After posting "Vapour" to the internet in 2013, the song accumulated thousands of streams. Its momentum carried into the Winter EP, which likewise drew widespread listens, prompting Bettinson to launch live performances by 2014, among them a slot at Austin's SXSW festival. The Sony-issued Revival followed in 2016 as Vancouver Sleep Clinic's debut album. Contract disputes with the label soon surfaced, leading Bettinson to sever the relationship and pause for creative reassessment. He resurfaced in 2018 via the paired EPs Therapy Phase 01—whose single "Closer" appeared—and Therapy Phase 02. October 2019 then brought the second studio album, Onwards to Zion.
