Axel Flóvent

Emerging as a sincere indie folk artist and songwriter hailing from Iceland, Axel Flóvent advanced from his countryside beginnings to worldwide notice and a major-label contract in Europe via successive EPs that grew in popularity through the final years of the 2010s.

Born in the modest fishing village of Húsavík along Iceland’s harsh northern shoreline, Flóvent took up guitar at age nine and began writing his first songs soon after. Encouraged by his older brother, himself a musician, he joined a rock band in his teens before turning toward a gentler folk approach. His independently issued 2016 EP Forest Fires reached listeners beyond Iceland, prompting a signing with Epic Amsterdam the next year for the follow-up EP Quiet Eyes. The more expansive Youthful Hearts EP appeared in 2018, introducing added depth that he carried forward on later releases such as 2020’s Tourist and 2021’s You Stay by the Sea.
