Biography
Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Adna creates alternative music defined by ethereal textures, prominent reverb, and vocals that convey melancholy while addressing isolation, romance, and longing. Her emotionally resonant songwriting and compositions soon cultivated a dedicated audience, evidenced by the albums Run, Lucifer in 2015 and Closure in 2017. She began composing during her mid-teens, and after gathering enough material she issued her self-titled debut EP on the Stockholm-based Despotz Records in 2012. Following that release, her sound invited comparisons to the xx, Bon Iver, and Florence + the Machine. Over the next several years she kept writing and recording, occasionally issuing singles until the remix EP Memento Mori appeared in 2015, featuring reworkings by Eternal Death and DÖDEN. Adna subsequently moved to Berlin, where she could focus on songwriting more regularly while also performing across Europe. Her first full-length album, Night, was released in 2014 through Despotz Records. In 2015 she delivered a cover of Ry X’s “Berlin” and then the live EP Smoke. That year also brought her sophomore LP, Run, Lucifer. After spending 2016 on the follow-up, Closure arrived in early 2017.
