Biography
An indie folk outfit from Australia revolves around the songwriting and vocal contributions of Ryan Henderson and Matt Carins, who fuse introspective words with layered vocal interplay and grounded tunes. Mutual friends drawn together by a shared enthusiasm for journeys and acoustic sounds, the pair launched the project in Brisbane in 2013. Their vision took shape when the single “The Woods” surfaced in 2017. Nettwerk soon signed the act, and the debut EP Wanderlust followed later that year, prompting listeners to note resemblances to Angus & Julia Stone, Ben Howard, and Paper Kites. In 2019 the duo presented their first album, the wistful Moments, shaped in the studio by Chris Bond, whose prior credits include Ben Howard, Justin Nozuka, and Xavier Rudd. The 2021 release Blessings EP turned to the enforced distance of the COVID-19 lockdown, examining perseverance and appreciation. “Harder to Fake It” arrived in 2023 as the opening single from the group’s second album. Issued the following year, Nothing to Lose found Henderson and Carins offering another sincere, affecting set of coastal folk-pop.
