Chris Webby

Born Christopher Webster in Connecticut, Chris Webby began rapping while still in sixth grade. Several years afterward he drew early supporters through sets at college parties. Following his expulsion from school, he dove into the mixtape circuit with free releases that prompted immediate comparisons to Machine Gun Kelly and Mac Miller. Six official tapes had already appeared when his There Goes the Neighborhood EP arrived on Homegrown Music in 2011 and brought his party raps to wider attention. Two years later he issued a second EP, Homegrown, through eOne. His first proper album, Chemically Imbalanced, followed in 2014, entering Billboard’s R&B/hip-hop chart at number two behind guest spots from Tech N9ne and Talib Kweli. A third EP, Jamo Neat, produced by Sap, surfaced the next year. Webster then returned to the mixtape format while adjusting to streaming, releasing one track each week via the Webby Wednesday series that ran from 2017 through 2018.
